Why Was Michael Jordan's Son Arrested? Here’s What We Know
The early hours in Florida were marked by the arrest of Marcus Jordan, son of the legendary former NBA player Michael Jordan. The incident took place in the city of Maitland, in the Orlando metropolitan area, when the police found his Lamborghini SUV stuck on the railroad tracks, requiring quick action to avoid a collision with a SunRail commuter train.
Authorities reported that Jordan, 34, showed clear signs of intoxication, including a strong smell of alcohol and difficulty speaking. Despite this, he refused to take a breathalyzer test. During the inspection, officers found a bag with a white powder in his pocket, which, after being tested, turned out to be cocaine. This led to his arrest for drug possession and resisting arrest without violence.
Defiant Attitude and Previous History
During the procedure, Jordan displayed a defiant attitude and attempted to justify his actions to the officers, claiming that he had not committed any serious offense. According to a leaked police video, he insisted on his innocence and argued, "I’m Michael Jordan's son! I haven’t done anything wrong, I was just trying to get home." However, the officers proceeded with his arrest and transported him to the Orange County jail.
The court report indicates that Marcus Jordan faces charges of cocaine possession, a second-degree misdemeanor, and resisting arrest without violence. His bail was set at $4,000, and he was released hours later. As of now, there is no information about his legal defense or the date of his first hearing.
Previous Scandals
This is not the first scandal involving Marcus Jordan. In the past, he has been involved in other controversies, including an arrest in 2012 for an altercation while intoxicated and his high-profile relationship with Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of Scottie Pippen. Despite attempting to pursue a college basketball career, his life has been marked by media exposure and business ventures in the sports footwear industry.
