Esteban Ocon and Alpine Part Ways
French driver Esteban Ocon won't continue with the BWT Alpine F1 team after the 2024 season, as announced by both parties.
"BWT Alpine F1 Team and Esteban Ocon agree to part ways at the end of the 2024 season," the brief statement read.
Ocon, 27, has been with Renault since 2019, partnering with Daniel Ricciardo initially, and then with Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly after the team's transformation into Alpine.
In these five seasons, he has scored one win at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix and two other podiums: second in Sakhir 2020 and third in Monaco 2023.
On his social media, Ocon said he feels "incredibly lucky and privileged" to have achieved what he did with the team: "From my first podium to my first win in Formula 1. These achievements were truly dreams come true."
"We still have a long way to go this season, and my focus and energy are 100% dedicated to this team and the work we have to do together to move forward and maximize our results on the track. Like many drivers this season, there has been a lot of talk about my future beyond 2024. Updates will be announced in due time," the driver added.
