Tommy Edman Named MVP of Dodgers vs Mets Series
Tommy Edman was named the Most Valuable Player of the National League Championship Series, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a World Series appearance against the New York Yankees.
The Dodgers clinched the series with a 10-5 win over the New York Mets in Game 6, with Edman, 29, delivering two hits, including a home run and a double, driving in four runs and scoring twice.
Edman’s performance played a pivotal role in sending the Dodgers to their first World Series since 2020, when they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays.
Throughout the series against the Mets, Edman recorded 11 hits in 27 at-bats, posting a .407 batting average. His offensive output included three doubles, one home run, five runs scored, and 11 RBIs.
Versatile in both center field and shortstop, Edman has been batting fourth in the lineup, filling the void left by Freddie Freeman’s absence. In doing so, he tied the Dodgers' franchise record for RBIs in a postseason series (11), a mark previously set by Corey Seager in the 2020 National League Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves.
Starting the postseason in center field, Edman shifted to shortstop following an injury to Miguel Rojas, and he excelled in this new role under manager Dave Roberts.
With the World Series against the Yankees set to begin next Friday, Edman’s contributions, both offensively and defensively, will continue to be crucial for the Dodgers.
