Carvajal Criticizes Officiating After Draw at El Sadar
Dani Carvajal, one of Real Madrid’s captains, did not hide his frustration with the refereeing in the draw against Osasuna at El Sadar. Through his social media accounts, the Spanish right-back reacted strongly to Jude Bellingham’s red card, posting: "This time it was an ejection."
Frustration Over Bellingham’s Red Card and Budimir’s Penalty
The match was filled with controversial decisions. In the first half, Real Madrid appealed for three potential penalties, none of which were awarded by referee Munuera Montero. The frustration escalated when, minutes later, the official sent off Bellingham for alleged dissent, leaving the Madrid side a man down.
Watching from home due to a serious knee injury, Carvajal did not hold back and took to social media to voice his frustration, repeating: "This time it was an ejection," in reference to his teammate’s dismissal.
The controversy continued into the second half. The referee awarded a penalty to Osasuna after a play where Eduardo Camavinga accidentally stepped on Ante Budimir after the Croatian forward had missed his shot. The decision was reviewed by VAR and upheld by Munuera Montero, allowing Osasuna to level the score.
Carvajal once again expressed his discontent on social media, posting a thinking face emoji and another covering its face, clearly disapproving of the officiating.
The draw leaves Real Madrid with a bitter taste as they drop crucial points in the title race, while Osasuna celebrates a result that keeps them in the fight for European competition spots.
