Good News for Real Madrid Regarding Their Injured Players
Uruguayan midfielder Fede Valverde trained normally on Thursday with the rest of his teammates after recovering from his lingering back issues that prevented him from playing the second half of the match against Milan. Valverde is expected to be available for Saturday's game against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu, while Swiss defender David Alaba has also resumed ball work.
Valverde has been dealing with lower back pain that has hindered him in recent weeks and had to be substituted at halftime against Milan. However, just two days after Real Madrid's 1-3 Champions League loss, Valverde participated in a special training session for David Alaba.
The Austrian took a big step in his recovery, touching the ball for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in his left knee on December 12, 2023, which has kept him off the pitch.
In addition to Alaba, Carlo Ancelotti is still unable to call upon Dani Carvajal, also out with a knee injury; Thibaut Courtois, with a muscle injury; and Aurelien Tchouaméni, who suffered a left ankle sprain against Milan and will be sidelined for a month.
According to the club’s website, the training session began with warm-up, possession, and finishing exercises. Afterward, the players worked on a tactical phase focused on improving defensive play following two losses to FC Barcelona and Milan. The session concluded with small-sided games and shooting drills.
