Jude Bellingham named Player of the Month for December
English midfielder Jude Bellingham, from Real Madrid, has been awarded LaLiga’s Player of the Month for December, taking over the title from his teammate Vinicius Júnior.
Bellingham had an outstanding month, scoring four goals (extending his streak to six consecutive matchdays with a goal) and adding two assists in five games. During this period, Carlo Ancelotti's team recorded three wins, one draw, and one loss. This marks the first time this season the Englishman has received this honor.
Key goals and standout leadership
Bellingham kicked off December with a penalty goal against Getafe, scored again in the loss to Athletic at San Mamés, and continued to find the net in the win over Girona and the draw with Rayo Vallecano. Although his scoring streak ended against Sevilla, Real Madrid closed out the year with a victory.
The English star beat out Oihan Sancet (Athletic), Antoine Griezmann (Atlético de Madrid), Raphinha (Barcelona), and Sandro Ramírez (Las Palmas) in the final voting.
Additional LaLiga recognitions
Young Turkish talent Arda Güler, also from Real Madrid, was named December’s best U-23 player. He edged out Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Ilaix Moriba (Celta), Jon Aramburu (Real Sociedad), and Fábio Silva (Las Palmas), who had won the award in November.
Meanwhile, Czech defender Ladislav Krejci, from Girona, won Goal of the Month for his last-minute strike against Villarreal at La Cerámica, securing a 2-2 draw. He topped the voting over Samu Lino (Atlético de Madrid) and Hugo Álvarez (Celta).
More standout awards
Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic, from Leganés, was recognized for Save of the Month for his stop against Brazilian forward Raphinha, from Barcelona, during their match at Butarque. This is the second time Dmitrovic has earned this award, having first won it in September.
Finally, Argentine coach Diego Pablo Simeone, from Atlético de Madrid, was named Manager of the Month for December after leading his team to the top of the table. He beat out Diego Martínez (Las Palmas) and Ernesto Valverde (Athletic Club) in this category.
