Messi Dreams of Returning to Barcelona and Praises Flick
Inter Miami forward and FC Barcelona legend Lionel Messi described the start of the season under Hansi Flick’s management as “spectacular.” He also highlighted the crucial role of academy players, emphasizing that they always deliver when given trust and opportunities.
“When given confidence, they respond in this way because they know the club better than anyone. They’ve been accustomed to Barcelona’s philosophy since they were kids. When they’re supported, these things happen, just like in other times,” said Messi, specifically praising Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí as current examples from La Masia.
These remarks are part of an interview for El Nou Clam, a Catalan public television documentary series celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary, set to air in full on November 28.
Messi also expressed his emotional connection to the city and his hope to one day return to live there with his family. “My kids, my wife, and I miss our life in Barcelona a lot. My children are Catalan, and I feel like I’m from Barcelona,” the Argentine star nostalgically stated.
The documentary promises to offer an intimate look into Messi’s relationship with the club and the city that shaped his life, building excitement among Barça fans.
