OFFICIAL: Hansi Flick renews with FC Barcelona until 2027 and Real Madrid is shaking in fear
German coach Hansi Flick (Heidelberg, 1965) has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until June 2027, as announced by the club this Wednesday. Flick, who was originally signed through 2026, sealed the deal at the club offices alongside president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafa Yuste, and sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza ‘Deco’, among other board members.
A golden debut season with historic numbers
In his first season in charge, Flick pulled off an impressive domestic treble: LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. He also guided the team to the Champions League semifinals, reviving excitement among the Barça fans. The team has looked strong across the board, with players like Raphinha and Lewandowski hitting top form again, the rise of Lamine Yamal, the consistency of Pedri, and a solid backline featuring the pairs Cubarsí–Íñigo Martínez and Koundé–Balde.
The stats back up Flick's success. Only two coaches in club history have posted better records after 60 games: Luis Enrique in 2015 (50 wins, 4 draws, 6 losses) and Helenio Herrera in 1959 (47-6-7). Flick, who hits his 60th game this weekend in Bilbao, currently has 43 wins, 7 draws, and 9 losses.
A goal-hungry Barça with clear progress across the board
When it comes to scoring, Flick’s Barça is the fourth-highest scoring side in their first 60 matches, with 171 goals. Only teams coached by HH (197 in 1959), Luis Enrique (175 in 2015), and Juan José Nogués (175 in 1943) have scored more in that stretch. This attacking strength has become a signature of Flick's squad, both at home and on the road.
According to BeSoccer Pro via EFE, Barça has improved in nearly every area compared to last season: more goals per match, more shots, more accurate passes, more recoveries in the opponent’s half, fewer shots conceded, and fewer goals allowed. The only areas where numbers dipped slightly were ball losses and save percentage. With Flick now renewed, the Barça project looks more solid than ever — and over in Madrid, they’re already starting to feel the pressure.
