Cristiano Ronaldo to Fenerbahce? Mourinho Sets the Record Straight
Amid rumors linking Cristiano Ronaldo to Fenerbahce, Portuguese coach José Mourinho wasted no time shutting down the idea of his compatriot leaving Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia to join the Turkish club. In his usual witty manner, Mourinho dismissed the speculation as “nonsense” and joked that the only reason Ronaldo might visit Istanbul would be to share a meal with him.
“Cristiano to Fenerbahce? Only if he’s coming for dinner… It’s all rubbish,” Mourinho quipped during a press conference following his team’s dominant 6-2 win over Kayserispor. The coach even joked about Istanbul’s convenient location between Saudi Arabia and Portugal: “Maybe one day, on his private jet, he’ll stop here to visit his old friend José. But it’d only be for dinner, nothing more.”
Ronaldo, currently under contract with Al-Nassr until 2025, continues to shine with standout performances, including a recent brace in the AFC Champions League. The forward has repeatedly expressed his commitment to finishing his career in Saudi Arabia, ruling out any immediate moves elsewhere.
Mourinho, true to his style, also took the opportunity to emphasize that any new additions to Fenerbahce must be top-tier. “If someone joins in January, they need to be really good because improving this squad isn’t easy,” he added, reaffirming his confidence in his current team.
