The Indomitable Lionesses extended their unbeaten run and took a major step toward the knockout stage of the African tournament.
Cameroon secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ghana on Sunday in a tightly contested match at Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, moving to the top of Group D at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with six points and taking a major step toward the quarterfinals.

A 19th-minute penalty from Marie Ngah Manga secured the victory for the Indomitable Lionesses, who remain unbeaten after following up their opening win against Mali with another strong performance. It was Manga’s third goal of the tournament, making her the only Cameroon player to score so far in the competition.
The Black Queens pushed relentlessly for an equalizer, but Cameroonian goalkeeper Michaely Bihina proved to be their biggest obstacle with several key saves. Ghana also saw a potential equalizer from Evelyn Badu in the 78th minute ruled out after a VAR review determined an offside infraction involving Doris Boaduwaa.
This marked only the fourth victory for Cameroon over Ghana in 10 WAFCON meetings. The Indomitable Lionesses continue the dominance they established since 2014 and extended their current unbeaten streak to 11 matches, strengthening their status as serious contenders for both the African title and a place at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana, who have three points after defeating Cape Verde, will look to bounce back on Thursday, August 6, when they face Mali. Meanwhile, Cameroon will aim to secure the top spot in the group when they take on Cape Verde on the same day, chasing a perfect record of nine points from nine possible.
