"Checo" Pérez and Colapinto Lead the List of Latinos Racing in the Mexican Grand Prix
With these four drivers, the Mexico City Grand Prix becomes a true Latin fiesta, where the passion for Formula 1 unites different countries from the region.
The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix promises to be an exciting event, with Latin American drivers playing a key role. Sergio "Checo" Pérez, the local star and the top figure in Mexican motorsports, arrives at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez aiming to shine in front of his home crowd. After a challenging season, Checo will be looking to reclaim his spot on the podium, recalling his past achievements at home and the significance of this circuit in his career.
However, he won’t be alone in representing Latin America. Franco Colapinto, the young Argentine driver making his debut this year with Williams, will also be one to watch. Colapinto, although new to Formula 1, has shown great potential in lower categories, where he has already made his mark, particularly in Spanish Formula 4. Now, with his sights set on Mexico, he will try to make history for Argentina.
The Mexican stage becomes even more exciting with the participation of Patricio O'Ward, McLaren's reserve driver. O'Ward, hailing from Monterrey, has already made a name for himself in IndyCar and has previous experience in Formula 1. His presence at the Grand Prix is a celebration of Mexican talent, which continues to grow on the international stage.
Joining them is Brazilian Felipe Drugovich, who will make his first appearance at this iconic circuit. Drugovich has had a successful career in Formula 2 and endurance racing, and now, with Aston Martin, he will seek to showcase his potential at one of the most important events on the calendar.
Checo Pérez, as the main figure, hopes to take the spotlight, but Colapinto, O'Ward, and Drugovich also have much to prove to a crowd that appreciates Latin talent on the world's most demanding tracks.
