Charles Leclerc and Arthur Leclerc: The first pair of brothers in the same F1 team
The upcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be a historic moment for both Formula 1 and Ferrari, as the Monegasque brothers Charles Leclerc and Arthur Leclerc will share a team for the first time in an official session. Arthur will replace Carlos Sainz during the first free practice, making history as the first time in F1's 74-year history that two brothers are in the same garage for the same team.
Famous brothers in F1 history
Over the years, other brothers have made their mark in Formula 1, like Mexicans Pedro and Ricardo Rodríguez, Germans Michael and Ralf Schumacher, Brazilians Emerson and Wilson Fittipaldi, and South Africans Jody and Ian Scheckter. However, none of them ever raced for the same team, which makes the Leclercs pioneers in the top tier of motorsport.
Arthur Leclerc’s journey
Ferrari, one of the most iconic teams, follows the rule of fielding a rookie driver in free practice at least once a year. Arthur Leclerc, the 2022 Formula Regional Asia champion, was chosen for this opportunity after excelling in categories like Formula 3, Formula 2, and endurance races like the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). He will also be part of the rookie tests on Tuesday alongside Antonio Fuoco, a driver for Ferrari’s WEC team, capping off an emotional season for the Leclerc family.
A historic moment for the Leclerc family and Ferrari
This historic moment not only highlights Ferrari's legacy as the most iconic team in Formula 1, but also celebrates the passion of a family deeply rooted in motorsport. Fans will be eagerly watching how Arthur takes advantage of this unique opportunity and how the Leclerc brothers write a new chapter in the history of the sport.
