Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto (Williams), who finished tenth in the United States GP despite starting from fifteenth, revealed that the engineers didn’t want him to start with hard tires, but he convinced them, and it worked out.

“I told them, 'let's start on hard tires and go a bit longer,' and I convinced them. So if I don’t have a seat next year, I’ll become a strategy engineer," Colapinto joked to DAZN. He explained that the strategy "was risky, but it paid off."

“I knew I had the pace and wanted some clean air, and it worked out,” said the Argentinian driver, who also mentioned he learned "a lot" this weekend on a track like Austin, which he didn’t know.

He also emphasized that he has "high hopes for what's coming" after a race where he held on "as long as he could," though he was "happy with what's coming and with the result."
