Madrid to Host Its Own Formula 1 Grand Prix
The Madrid circuit, which will host the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 from 2026 to 2035, will be named MADRING. According to the organizers, the name not only refers to the layout but also aims to offer a unique experience for both the city and the region. The name combines "Madrid" with "ring," similar to iconic circuits like Hungaroring or Hockenheimring, giving it a modern and current touch in line with the concept of spectacle circuits like those in Abu Dhabi, Miami, and Las Vegas.
High Expectations for the Circuit
The new track, still awaiting FIA (International Automobile Federation) approval, will be 5.470 kilometers long and feature 20 turns. The expected lap time during qualifying sessions is approximately 1 minute and 32 seconds. The design will blend urban and non-urban sectors, offering a unique experience for both drivers and fans.
So far, Madrid has only hosted the Spanish Grand Prix on nine occasions, all at the Jarama Circuit, with the first race held in 1968 and the last one in 1981. The MADRING brand has been designed with a modern and dynamic approach. The curves that make up its visual identity reflect the essence of a Formula 1 circuit, conveying dynamism and speed, while the dominant colors, red and yellow, symbolize the passion for motorsport and nod to both the Spanish and Community of Madrid flags.
