Max Verstappen Could Seal Fourth F1 Championship in Las Vegas
Dutch F1 star Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who dazzled with a masterclass performance at the São Paulo Grand Prix, now has a clear shot to clinch his fourth consecutive title at the upcoming race in Las Vegas. All he needs is to prevent Lando Norris from closing the three-point gap in the standings.
At 27, Verstappen has won eight races this season, reaching a career total of 62 wins. His São Paulo victory silenced doubters, as he conquered a chaotic, rainy race from 17th place on the grid to take the win, leaving his closest challenger, Norris, scrambling in sixth place.
Despite Norris’s recent strong form and pole position, Verstappen unleashed his inner “Mad Max,” reminding everyone who’s in charge.
With 393 points, he now leads Norris by 62, making the title virtually his if he finishes ahead of Norris in Las Vegas.
Verstappen has several paths to victory: he can clinch the title if neither he nor Norris scores points or even if he doesn’t score and Norris finishes no higher than eighth. Additionally, Verstappen only needs to earn two fewer points than Norris to lock up the championship, thanks to his eight wins compared to Norris’s three.
Verstappen dethroned Lewis Hamilton in dramatic fashion in 2021, dominated the 2022 season, and cruised to the title in 2023. Now, in the glittering lights of Las Vegas, he’s primed to deal his fourth winning hand and continue his reign as the king of Formula 1.
