Is Xabi Alonso Considering a Move to Real Madrid?
Xabi Alonso, manager of Bayer Leverkusen, stated this Friday that he is focused on the current season with the club with which he won the Bundesliga last campaign, despite recent news in Spain suggesting his potential departure from Germany to Real Madrid.
"I cannot say anything more. It's too early in the season. My focus is on the season at Heidenheim (Leverkusen's next opponent), on playing well until December and next year, and achieving our goal," Alonso affirmed during the press conference before the eleventh matchday of the German championship.
"My feeling is that having a good season and playing well should be our goals for me and for the players," the Spanish coach elaborated when asked about the news that during the last international break indicated that the Bayer coach might take over at Real Madrid next season.
Bayer Leverkusen, the current Bundesliga champions and presently fourth in the standings with 17 points, nine points behind the leader Bayern Munich, will face Heidenheim, who are 14th in the German league table, on Saturday.
