Corinthians Fall Short Against Barcelona SC
Barcelona Sporting Club secured their spot in the 2025 Copa Libertadores group stage after overcoming Corinthians with a 3-2 aggregate score. Despite losing 2-0 in the second leg at Neo Química Arena on March 12, their commanding first-leg advantage was enough to advance.
Needing a comeback from a 3-0 deficit, Corinthians started aggressively. Their breakthrough came in the 40th minute, when Félix Torres headed home a Rodrigo Garro corner.
The pressure continued in the second half, and in the 84th minute, André Carrillo doubled the lead with another header, assisted by Gustavo Henrique.
Despite their relentless push, Corinthians couldn't find the crucial third goal, and the 2-0 victory wasn’t enough to overturn the tie. Barcelona SC now moves on to the group stage of the tournament.
