LaLiga Again Denies Barcelona’s Registration of Dani Olmo, Pau Víctor
Barcelona’s registration request rejected
The Commission for Monitoring the LaLiga-RFEF Coordination Agreement rejected Barcelona's latest attempt to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, the organizations announced Saturday in a joint statement. The decision prevents the club from including the players in the second half of the season.
Regulatory barriers block Barça’s plans
"Having analyzed the applicable regulatory framework, the Monitoring Commission agreed not to grant prior approval nor the definitive licenses requested by FC Barcelona for players D. Daniel Olmo Carvajal and D. Pau Víctor Delgado," the statement read.
The ruling is based on Articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the RFEF General Regulations, which prohibit a player whose license has been canceled from being re-registered by the same team within the same season. Both Olmo and Víctor were removed from LaLiga’s official player registry on Jan. 1, 2025, after the club failed to meet financial control requirements.
Force majeure argument denied
In its appeal, Barcelona argued "force majeure" as grounds for issuing new licenses, but the RFEF and LaLiga upheld the initial decision. Both organizations emphasized adherence to the rules without exceptions.
What’s next for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor?
Should Barcelona fail to resolve the matter through the Higher Sports Council or ordinary courts, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor would be free to sign with other clubs.
A blow to Barcelona’s financial strategy
The ruling underscores Barcelona’s ongoing financial challenges under LaLiga’s stringent regulations, dealing a significant blow to the club’s midseason plans and raising questions about its ability to navigate future transfer strategies.
