The Truth Behind Vinícius Jr.'s Tattoo Featuring Michael Jordan, Pelé, and Kobe Bryant
ew details have been revealed about the masterpiece the Brazilian has on his back.
Real Madrid player Vinícius Jr. has a very special tattoo on his back, one that sparked much discussion in December 2023 and, to this day, continues to be a topic of conversation.
What Did Vinícius Jr. Get Tattooed?
The Real Madrid star now sports an intricate tattoo that covers his entire back, created by renowned artist Ganga in Los Angeles, California. The piece, completed in eight hours, pays tribute to sports legends like Pelé, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, and Kobe Bryant, among others.
What Did the Tattoo Artist Say?
The California-based artist, originally from Murcia, shared his experience working with Vinícius Jr. on social media: "Ending 2023 with this incredible full-back tattoo for my brother, Vinícius Jr., was amazing. Always with my team," Ganga said.
Despite its artistry, the tattoo drew significant criticism, particularly for depicting Michael Jordan shooting left-handed instead of his usual right-handed style.
In an interview with content creator Ibai Llanos, Ganga clarified the design: "We worked on the tattoo for the whole back, a process that usually takes around 10 months. Vinícius wanted it that way, completely finished. As for Jordan shooting with his left hand, he knew exactly what it would look like. We flipped the image of Jordan, and he approved it," Ganga confirmed.
Ganga is known for working with celebrities like LeBron James, Arcángel, Peso Pluma, and Drake, now adding Vinícius Jr. to his exclusive client list.
Vinícius Jr.’s Injury Update
Vinícius Jr. has been sidelined with a left hamstring injury, diagnosed after Real Madrid's 3-0 victory over Leganés. The club announced that the forward will miss at least three weeks, ruling him out of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.
"Following tests conducted by Real Madrid’s Medical Services, Vinícius Jr. has been diagnosed with a left hamstring injury," the club stated on its website.
The Brazilian forward has been crucial this season, tallying 12 goals and 8 assists in 18 matches. His absence adds to Real Madrid's growing injury list, with 23 injuries affecting 14 players this season.
According to sources from the club, Vinícius is targeting a return for the Intercontinental Cup in Qatar on December 18, though his recovery progress will determine his availability.
