Mahomes Reveals Taylor Swift is Designing Plays for the Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, dropped a surprising tidbit: pop superstar Taylor Swift has started designing plays and there’s a chance they might use one in the 2024 NFL season!
"She’s super into football and asks a lot of interesting questions. She even started coming up with plays. We might just have to throw one in there," said the QB, who’s also been named Super Bowl MVP three times. Since late last year, Taylor Swift has boosted the Chiefs' and the NFL’s popularity, thanks to her relationship with star tight end Travis Kelce.
One of the biggest impacts? The sale of Kelce’s No. 87 jersey skyrocketed by 400% after Taylor started showing up at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, to cheer on her boyfriend and the team. She even made it to Super Bowl LVII this past February.
According to an Apex Marketing study, Swift’s presence has helped the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs increase their value by $330 million, based on how often the league and team were mentioned in media articles about Taylor and Kelce’s relationship.
Mahomes also highlighted the interest the 'Shake it Off' singer has shown in football since she started dating Kelce, saying it could be inspiring for many young girls who look up to her.
"I think it’s awesome to see girls and women really getting into football. I’m a dad to a little girl, and it’s great to see these young ones spending time with their parents watching football. Getting to know Taylor, seeing how genuine and cool she is, that’s been special for me because she’s the most famous person in the world," the quarterback shared.
And if there’s one thing Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid is known for, it’s his openness to accepting play ideas from everyone. He even encourages his players to come up with new tricks to surprise their opponents.
