Vikings Agree to Deal With Veteran Cornerback Stephon Gilmore
The Minnesota Vikings have reached a one-year agreement with veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore, marking the team's fifth addition at the position since training camp began. Gilmore, by far the most accomplished of the group, is expected to strengthen a critical area for the Vikings.
Gilmore’s contract includes $7 million guaranteed and could total up to $10 million, according to his agent Jason Chayut, who shared the details with ESPN. A five-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2019 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year with New England, Gilmore is set to join his fifth team in as many seasons.
The 33-year-old, who will turn 34 on September 19, was unsigned after spending the 2023 season with the Dallas Cowboys. He played through a shoulder injury during the Cowboys' wild-card playoff loss before undergoing surgery for a torn labrum.
Selected 10th overall out of South Carolina by the Buffalo Bills in the 2012 NFL Draft, Gilmore spent five years with the Bills before signing with the New England Patriots in 2017. During his four seasons in New England, he won a Super Bowl in 2018. Gilmore later played for the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 before his stint in Dallas.
