Kylian Mbappé Discusses His Relationship with Vinícius Jr.
The French forward is regaining confidence after his impressive display against Leganés. Following the match, he discussed his relationship with the Brazilian and more.
Carlo Ancelotti is taking great care to protect Kylian Mbappé since his arrival at Real Madrid. The Italian coach has consistently stood by the Frenchman, defending him against criticism and questions about his performance. Last night was no different, as Ancelotti once again supported his star player.
While Mbappé continues to adapt to the central forward position, where he’s still finding his rhythm, Ancelotti shifted him back to the left wing for the match against Leganés. Returning to his natural area of play, Mbappé showcased his speed and skills, displaying a style more aligned with his strengths. Despite having a goal ruled out for offside after a clever assist from Vinícius Jr., the French international eventually broke the deadlock, capitalizing on a defensive error by Leganés’ Altimira with an assist from the Brazilian. The Leganés right-back struggled throughout the game, unable to contain the dynamic duo’s relentless pace and combinations.
A Strong Connection with Vinícius Jr.
Mbappé’s budding partnership with Vinícius Jr. offers promising signs for Real Madrid. With both players naturally inclined to play on the left wing, their ability to complement each other is crucial. "I have a great relationship with Vini. He’s an amazing player, like everyone here. The best players are at Real Madrid, and we’re ready to win many games and titles together," Mbappé said in an interview with Real Madrid TV, quelling any rumors of tension between the two stars.
Adapting to Positional Changes
Reflecting on his recent positional switch, Mbappé downplayed its significance, focusing instead on the team’s performance in the 3-0 victory at Butarque. "It was a good game. I started well, and I’m beginning to regain my rhythm. I played in a different position than in previous matches, but I can play anywhere. I’ll likely play in another position in the next match, and I’m ready for that. Whether it’s on the right, centrally, or on the left, that’s been the story of my career. My main goal is to play well and score a lot of goals," Mbappé said after netting his 7th goal in La Liga following four goalless games.
He also highlighted the benefits of training with Castilla players: "It was good to train with the Castilla players, whom I didn’t know before but who have a lot of talent. I feel great physically and am ready to help the team."
Title Race Tightens
Real Madrid’s comfortable victory, combined with Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo, allowed Los Blancos to close the gap to four points at the top of the table. With a game in hand against Valencia, Real Madrid remains firmly in the title race. A reinvigorated Kylian Mbappé could prove pivotal as the reigning Spanish champions aim to reclaim their crown.
