Only Three! The Real Madrid Players Who Never Miss a Match
With Vinícius Jr.'s injury, only three Real Madrid players remain ever-present, having participated in every single match.
Vinícius Jr.'s injury leaves Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti without one of his 'untouchables.' The Brazilian forward was one of four players who had featured in all of Real Madrid's matches this season across various competitions. The others on this list include German defender Antonio Rüdiger, Uruguayan midfielder Fede Valverde, and Croatian veteran Luka Modrić.
Valverde, who captained the team in Butarque and played as a right-back, is the only player to have started every match. Rüdiger has logged the most minutes with 1,536, followed closely by Valverde (1,528) and Vinícius (1,522), while Modrić has started only seven games, accumulating 801 minutes on the pitch.
The German center-back and the Brazilian winger have 17 starts each, one more than French forward Kylian Mbappé, who has played 1,412 minutes across 16 matches. Brazilian defender Éder Militão, who suffered a season-ending injury against Osasuna, also had featured in 15 games before his setback.
Vinícius Jr.'s absence adds to the long list of injuries plaguing Ancelotti's squad and is a significant blow to Real Madrid, both tactically and statistically.
The Brazilian is the team's top scorer this season with 12 goals, three more than Mbappé. He also leads in assists with six and has scored in eight matches, the same as the Frenchman. Vinícius is the only player with two hat-tricks this season, and he excels in creating offensive opportunities: he leads in passes into the box, successful dribbles (91 out of 176 attempts), offensive duels won (131), fouls drawn (47), and ball progressions (125).
On the downside, Vinícius has received the most yellow cards (7) and lost possession the most times (218), a reflection of his aggressive and high-risk style of play.
