Why The Best Game of The Weekend is in Ligue 1
Friday sees duels between two Champions League leaders and PSG with everything Toulouse
Can Monaco keep up with PSG with win against Brest?
On a purely empirical basis the best match in Europe this weekend is to be found in Ligue 1. Why? Well, the Champions League is supposedly the barometer of the greatest teams in Europe right here, right now. Which means that a match-up between the two teams that are third and fourth in the UCL standings must be the pick of the bunch across the continent. Sounds good to us!
That's exactly what Ligue 1 is kicking off with on Friday in another bumper weekend of matches as Monaco and Brest go head-to-head, two teams that are in the top echelon of the gargantuan Champions League standings. Indeed, Monaco are in the top echelon in France as well, with the Monte Carlo team in second place, but already losing ground on PSG at the top, with a six-point difference after just 11 games. This is why Friday's home match against a Brest team, that is truly leaving the dream of late, is a must-win already.

Can Luis Enrique get PSG through a week with all Toulouse.
Sticking on a Champions League theme and PSG have been displaying two faces. In France, the team is as imperious as ever with just one defeat in the club's last 40 Ligue 1 games. Bradley Barcola continues to have fans asking 'Kylian who?' with ten goals already in Ligue 1 this season. This undefeated start to the season sees PSG already with a six-point lead at the top of the table.
However, it's a different story in the Champions League. Just one win in four has plonked PSG into the bottom part of the table, meaning instant elimination from the competition if it stays that way. To make matters worse, PSG's next match is away at Bayern Munich. This sees Luis Enrique having to juggle a lot of balls in selecting his team for Toulouse from dealing with those who were busy on an international break to holding back some players to have them ready for Tuesday's trip to Germany. "It's always special after the break," said the PSG coach on Thursday, "we must not only take into account Toulouse but also the load of minutes in the national team."
