Guardiola Acknowledges Manchester City's Tough Situation
Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, admitted that his team is going through a rough patch after six games without a win, including five consecutive losses. “As things stand, it’s not realistic to think about big objectives. Right now, it’s about focusing on the next game, building rhythm, and continuing from there. That’s how we’ll come back,” the coach said during a press conference.
Despite the poor run of results, Guardiola recently renewed his contract with the club until 2027 and remains confident his team will regain its form: “We will come back. I don’t know when, but that’s the truth. You can judge the situation we’re in, but it’s normal for this to happen when a team has dominated the Premier League for so many years.”
Confidence in rebuilding
The Catalan coach emphasized that tough moments are part of sports: “If you don’t win, you’re in trouble — I know that. People trust me, but I want the chance to try and rebuild my team in many areas, from now until the end of the season and beyond.”
Acknowledging the lack of consistency, Guardiola defended his players and pointed out that no team, even in other sports, can maintain a high level for a decade: “We don’t have the consistency we used to, but tell me one team that has been consistent for ten years. There aren’t any.”
