Txiki Begiristain Named Best European Executive
Spanish Txiki Begiristain, still the football director of Manchester City, won the award for best executive in European leagues at the 'Golden Boy' event, organized by the newspaper 'Tuttosport'.
Begiristain, who will leave City at the end of the season after 12 years at the British club, has been key in the growth and expansion of the entity since 2012.
The executive, alongside Pep Guardiola, reached the highest levels with a team now going through its toughest period, with a trial underway over financial irregularities and five consecutive matches without a win, the latest on Tuesday when they were leading Feyenoord 3-0 in the Champions League at home at the Etihad Stadium.
Additionally, Antonio Percassi was awarded as best president of the year, leading an unstoppable Atalanta that became Europa League champions, and Jorge Mendes as best player agent.
