Man City fans raise money for a banner, and Guardiola offers to pay for it
Manchester City fans will display a banner this Saturday during the match against Fulham, asking Pep Guardiola to stay and not leave this summer when his contract expires.
A group of fans has raised £1,000 to display a banner in support of the manager renewing his contract.
“They have to send me the bill, and I’ll pay for the banner. I don’t want them to spend money on that. What can I say? I’m very grateful, I fell in love with the club from the first day I arrived. Whatever happens, will happen,” said the Spanish manager.
After nine years at the club, Guardiola's contract expires on June 30, and he has not yet given any indication of wanting to renew it.
A departure this summer would coincide with the verdict on the 115 charges of breaching financial fair play rules that the club faces, as well as a potential position with the England national team, which has been under an interim manager since Gareth Southgate left after the Euro.
