Will Mbappé Play in the Intercontinental Cup Final? Here's What Ancelotti Said
Kylian Mbappé's availability for the Intercontinental Cup final between Real Madrid and Pachuca remains a major question for Carlo Ancelotti. The Real Madrid coach hinted at the French forward’s possible inclusion in the starting lineup, just eight days after suffering a muscle injury.
"Kylian’s situation is straightforward. He trained well, felt good, and everything went as expected. Today, we’ll assess how he feels during the official training," Ancelotti said at a press conference from Qatar's Lusail Stadium, the match venue.
Mbappé Overcomes Muscle Injury
Mbappé sustained a left thigh issue during Real Madrid's Champions League clash against Atalanta in Bergamo, where he scored. The injury sidelined him for the match against Rayo Vallecano, but he now appears fit and could see action in the final.
"If he’s fine, he’ll play. We’ll talk with him and the medical staff to ensure there’s no risk. He feels good, and we’re optimistic," Ancelotti confirmed.
Mbappé's Strong Recent Performances
Addressing the international media, Ancelotti praised Mbappé’s recent progress and performances, while emphasizing the forward’s untapped potential.
"Mbappé is a fantastic player, and he hasn’t reached his peak yet. Still, in the last two or three matches, he’s performed at a high level. He can play in any attacking position thanks to his quality," the Italian coach added.
