Carlo Ancelotti Thanks His Team After Winning Best Coach of the Year
The Italian Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, was awarded the The Best prize by FIFA as the world’s best coach this Tuesday in Doha.
Ancelotti led the Madrid team to victory in the Champions League, La Liga, and the European and Spanish Super Cups, and could also secure the Intercontinental Cup against Pachuca from Mexico this Wednesday.
A Thank You to the Club and His Family
"I see many familiar faces of players I’ve coached here. It’s a great honor to receive this recognition from FIFA. Thanks to its president, I want to share this award with my club, with my president Florentino Pérez, who gave me the opportunity to coach the best club in the world, and also with my players who don’t always, but sometimes, listen to me," Ancelotti joked as he went up to receive the trophy.
"Thanks to my family, to my wife for giving me peace and love, which are so important in this job. I’ve been in football for 48 years, and it has given me many emotions, sometimes positive and other times negative, but it’s the big reason why, after so many years, I’m still going strong," the coach added.
A Historic Achievement for Ancelotti
This is the first time the Italian has received this recognition, succeeding Pep Guardiola from Spain, and achieving it just weeks after being awarded the Johan Cruyff trophy at the Ballon d'Or ceremony. Furthermore, after finishing second in 2022, Ancelotti becomes the first coach from his country to win this award since Claudio Ranieri in 2016.
