Anticipation Peaks as Boca Juniors Arrive in Rio for Copa Libertadores Final Against Fluminense
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - As the Boca Juniors football team touched down in Brazil ahead of their Copa Libertadores final on Saturday, they were met with fervent excitement. Despite the team taking a direct bus from one of the runways, bypassing public contact, jubilant fans gathered at Galeão International Airport, celebrating their arrival.
The Copa Libertadores final will air this Saturday, November 4th, exclusively on beIN SPORTS with coverage starting at 3:30 PM ET / 12:30 PT. Don't miss out!
Dozens of loyal Boca supporters, donning the club's iconic blue and gold jerseys and waving flags, cheered on their team. Their chants echoed the passion and history of the famous Argentine capital's club, as they geared up for a chance at their seventh tournament title. They face the local team, Fluminense, who are yet to clinch this coveted trophy.
In another part of the city, many Boca enthusiasts congregated at a hotel in the Barra da Tijuca district, located about thirty kilometers from Maracanã Stadium - the final's venue and Fluminense's usual home ground. The atmosphere was equally electric there, with both Boca fans and supporters of Botafogo, a traditional rival of Fluminense, welcoming the Argentine squad.
Under the directive of Coach Jorge Almirón, Boca Juniors brought along their entire roster to Brazil. However, due to an injury, Exequiel Zeballos remained in Argentina and was not part of the traveling squad.
Come Thursday morning, the team plans to hold their first training session in Brazil at Vasco da Gama's facility, yet another historic adversary of Fluminense.
